Orguan and Percussions

Avec l'organiste Samuel Liegeon

This program brings together organist Samuel Liégeon and Trio SR9 to explore the connections linking the grand architectural structures of Johann Sebastian Bach with the repetitive musical worlds of Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Spanning the centuries, these musical styles converge in their approach to pulse, the momentum of movement, and the richness of resonance.

In this unique ensemble, the timbres of the percussion instruments extend and transform the organ’s tonal colors. The works engage in a dialogue, revealing unexpected affinities between Bach’s contrapuntal writing and the repetitive motifs of the American composers.

The program is further enriched by the participation of students from a percussion class, who join in this collective musical experience and the exploration of these repertoires.
